Debbie Carlson believes in divine destiny! Having a love affair with the beauty industry that has spanned over 37 years, the front door of Faces Etc of MN, her “Professional Media Makeup Artistry School” in Minneapolis, Minnesota reads, “Where Beauty and Passion Meet” — This is a combination of both things she feels strongly about… beauty and a passion for what you do!

Combining her two passions, makeup and beauty education, Faces Etc of MN opened in 2007 as the first Makeup Artistry School in the Upper Midwest area, offering certification in professional makeup artistry for those wishing to pursue their dreams as freelance multi-media makeup artists!

New as a training center, but not new to the industry, Faces Etc of MN makeup artists have worked for clients such as ESPN-Disney Special: Joe Mauer Homecoming, The Coen Brother’s feature film, “A Serious Man,” the feature film, “Prodigal,” “Food Wars” and “Man vs. Food” on the Travel Channel, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, Newsweek, People Magazine (cover), many reality shows, numerous independent films, commercial shoots for corporations, bridal shows, fashion events, and runway events! Our instructors are all ”on-set” trained and skilled in every medium from HDTV, film, print and new media, including techniques in airbrushing and light special effects!

Debbie, is an International makeup artist, her work has taken her to multiple continents!  Debbie has worked every aspect of the industry — from platform educator and artist, bridal makeup artist, salon owner, and commercial artist. Additionally, she’s a licensed beauty instructor/school manager and a motivational speaker. As an educator in all aspects of the beauty business, she most recently served as the Director to one of the leading Esthetics schools in Minneapolis for 7 years, where she wrote curriculum and helped to launch the first Paul Mitchell Partner School in the United States. Debbie knows education, and how to motivate students into careers as working, successful makeup artist and beauty professionals!

Utilizing her organizational skills, Debbie also worked as the organizer and Head Judge for Skin Inc’s Professional Makeup Artists Competition. She is a past President of one of Minnesota’s NCA affiliates; Debbie worked as a Look Good Feel Better Volunteer, and is currently serving on the “MNSPA” Salon Professional Educational Team, teaching and educating in the areas of skin care and makeup. Her work has been published in many beauty and professional trade magazines.

As a freelance makeup artist for over 40 years, Debbie has worked in all facets of the industry: from film, commercials, corporate and medical videos, Hi-Def (High Definition) TV, print, fashion shows and more. She has wielded her brushes for many notables, including Prime Ministers, celebrities, Heads of State, Governors, Senators, including Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Peter Jennings, Beverly Sassoon, and actor Stephen Baldwin.

Having 13 grandchildren, three of her four daughters have followed in her “beauty industry” footsteps… as passionate beauty professionals, and as Debbie says: ”The beauty industry is our blood – it is our destiny!

We love education, and that is what Faces Etc of MN is all about… We are an educational facility. Learning is what keeps the beauty industry fresh and exciting! We know that one right relationship can change the course of your life forever. Some of my most precious friends are from the industry… working with colleagues and peers that you love and respect will stir your passion and quest for excellence beyond anything and be your biggest source of fulfillment!

That is what we have created at Faces Etc of MN – beauty professionals in every sense of the word – “by professionals… for professionals!” With a passionate desire to give back to the industry, we have become mentors for both the licensed professional and those wishing to become freelance professional makeup artists!
